Bishop Alfonso Madden

Alfonso Madden, Sr. was educated in the Watson and Delta school districts and he graduated from Delta High school in 1974.


Alfonso began his spiritual journey on July 26, 1981 and was baptized in Jesus Name just before midnight. He attended Faith Apostolic Church in Mitchellville, AR where he grew in faith and faithfulness.

 Exemplifying his dedication as a teacher and educator in God’s Word, in 1987 he was elected Sunday School Superintendent of the Arkansas District Council. During the 13 years as Sunday School Superintendent, (1996) he was selected to function as Region IV Director of the International Christian Education Auxiliary which encompasses Alabama, Arkansas, Texas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. In addition to Region IV Director, he served for three years as Assistant to the President of the ICEA and served on the transition team for the ICEA. This position increased the visibility and credibility of the state of Arkansas within the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. In 2006, in recognition of his growth and achievement in the educational arena, Bishop Madden was named a Distinguished Scholar by the ICEA, which is the educational arm of the PAW.

He currently serves as Pastor to Bethel Temple Pentecostal Church in Jerome, AR since 1994, and Christ Temple Pentecostal Church in Hamburg, AR since 1997.

Bishop Madden completed the requirements to become an Ordained Pastor in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World in August 1996,  and served as District Elder in the Arkansas District Council from 1998 to 2000. In 2000, he was chosen and honored to serve as Chairman of the Arkansas District Council and he was also elevated to the position of Suffragan Bishop.


In October 2006, based on his devotion to God’s Word, his love of God’s children, and his commitment to excellence, his steadfastness and his loyalty, Bishop Leodies Warren, recommended Alfonso Madden upon his retirement, to become his successor. This recommendation was voted on and upheld by a majority of PAW, Inc. and Pastors in Arkansas. On July 26, 2007, the 26th anniversary of his initial baptism in the name of Jesus, he was confirmed and consecrated as the Diocesan Bishop of the 18th Episcopal District of the PAW, Inc.


In September 2015, Bishop Madden founded ”I am My Brother Keepers Foundation” In honor of his grandson Ken, and his son's friends Michael and Jeffery.


Bishop Madden married Priscilla Smith Madden, January 18, 1982. They are the parents of 4 children and blessed grandparents of many grand and great-grandchildren.
